I'm a slug
BFNM - he's still in Florida. He's having to make hard decisions concerning the declining health of his parents. It's very sad and my thoughts and heart go out to him. He will be off to London in two weeks for job interviews. I know you want to know how I feel about that - I'm encouraging him to go. He has dreams he needs to fulfill in his life. I understand his wanderlust because I too have that wanderlust. What he needs is love and support in this decision to be far from friends and family. One thing I have always done with BFNM is have his back. I surprised him two years ago when I supported a business decision he was making and continue to have his back when he needs me.
Ex-boyfriend - I am looking for a good acronym for this guy. He's indescribible. That is his personality. As for his body - there are no complaints in that department. He works out - alot - I mean a whole lot. So unlike my body (which is soft like a woman's body should be) he is a hard body. The reason why he's an ex is that he wants my soft body to be harder. If you have ever seen me at the gym you would kick me out. I'm a girl. I'm a such a klutz I can't even skip rope much less run wind sprints much less run. I hate the treadmill (boring), stationary bike (well it's stationary) and the row machine (not enough wind). I don't mind the elliptical until you have to get off and then I have wobbly legs. Oh and that sweating thing - yuck! What is worse is his obsession with every single morsel of food that goes in his mouth. The last time we spoke I told him he had an eating disorder. He may have a great body but in my opinion what he considers healthy habits I consider abnormally extreme to achieve. He wants to see me again. I won't let him at least not yet. I told him when I was ready we would have to meet in a public place because we all know what would happen if I let him in my condo or I go to his place. Yep, I'd give in the moment he tried to kiss me. Easier not to be swayed by meeting in public. For now I'm most comfortable with email, im and phone calls. Am I being silly?
Weather - the storm is coming this way and I still haven't gotten to the grocery store. I have plenty of Tab, weight watcher ice cream bars, and bottled water. Oh, I just found a can of soup. If there is one piece of ice on the roads, I will be staying put. Maybe now would be a good time to get back with the ex just for extra warmth. HMMMMMMM..........
Hope all are safe and warm wherever you are. Be happy.

My rank 279,993
If you have taken the time to review my site, you will notice that I don't have very many links to other blogs. First because it is freaking time consuming to put those links in there because I am not a HTML programmer and I find the new beta blogger just as inane; second because I am an anti-clutter the screen person so I don't want long lists of anything; third, again with the HTML, although I have that "bloglines" link in there it doesn't do anything even though I thought it was supposed to take you to my bloglines list and then you could peruse for yourself all the blogs I was reading. I tested Neil's bloglines link and the message I got was: You are already subscribed to that blog. Gee I didn't know that! I thought it was suppose to take me to Neil's list so that I could peruse other blogs. Apparently not. So what's the point of even having that link on my site? Perhaps I should remove it. Finally, it's okay if people put me on their lists or not. They know who I am when I comment and every once in awhile they stop by and leave a comment. I'm not in this to make money or to compete for rankings or a book deal. This is all about me. I enjoy writing. I enjoy reading. I enjoy opinions - mine and other's. I enjoy having fun. I enjoy the virtual interaction and hopefully one day when Neil comes to Atlanta I will finally get to have a face to face conversation with someone who is intrigued by life as much as I am. I welcome the opportunity to meet any other blogger in person too. I wouldn't read you and comment on your posts if I didn't like you.
Another thing I stopped doing - putting tags on my posts. Do you get that I don't like programming languages? It was just too much trouble creating the tags and then adding them to each and every posts. Again, what was the point? My blog would be competing with a million other blogs on that particular tag. I get a kick just knowing my blog shows up in Google searches. That's way more entertaining to me. :D
There is something I do like that Citizen of the Month uses and that is the Blog Crush of the Day. Perhaps that is an easier way to let other's know what you are reading instead of having a long blog roll. Maybe have Blog Crush of the Day, Blog Crush of the Week, Blog Crush of the Month and Blog Crush of the Year. On second thought, too much pressure deciding all those categories - Blog Crush of the Week would be about all I could handle. Whatever you do, have fun and don't stress.

I'm here
At this point DDG's email were becoming more melodramatic and her word usage was deteriorating (i.e., geometry of the movement of furniture; offer an augmental path; aspire to reach a higher ground; you need to explain to me the why of it). BFNM's diplomatic response just hit me in such a way that I knew he had done the right thing by sending the initial "breakup" letter via email. I also knew BFNM better than DDG. While she had spent close to 4 months living in the same household with this man, she had no idea who he was as a man. He has qualities in him that I had seen him exhibit before in business and now got the chance to see him exhibit those same qualities of decency, fortitude, rectitude, dignity, sense of what is right and responsible on a personal level.
I told BFNM he truly is a wonderful person and how much I appreciated him allowing me to be apart of his life. I told him that I only wish my last boyfriend could have been as caring and diplomatic as he has exhibited in his correspondence with DDG. I also could finally see that if he had tried to do this in person it would have been a war of words and how he was trying very hard to stay away from an all out blame session. He was actually protecting her feelings and she just didn't see it. It is why he kept telling her to take a step back, take some time and absorb all that he had written, begin the healing process and then perhaps they could speak either on the phone or in person.
As for any more parts to the BFNM story - here's a summary - she went from insisting he be out of her rental unit to allowing him to stay until the tenants arrived in December; BFNM decided he needed to disengage from DDG completely; BFNM made arrangements for all his furniture to be moved to storage; he finally met face to face with DDG, they talked but it was awkward; the meeting reinforced his feelings that he had done the right thing in ending the relationship; 2 weeks to the day of sending his "breakup" letter he had moved out of her rental unit and is now living with his sister and brother in law which is not without some downside; his brother in law is going through a rough time and took it out on BFNM which in turn has made BFNM rethink being in Florida altogether; no BFNM is not moving to Atlanta (thanks for wishing so); I'm just trying to keep BFNM in the United States; BFNM tried to go to London and rent a friend's flat but that didn't pan out because the friend has sold the flat - whew; I'm trying to convince him to stay on the east coast; I made the quick trip to Florida because I felt he needed to know that there is someone that believes in all that he has done and is doing; the trip was well worth the 12 hours in a car in two days; we continue daily contact; this is now another defining point in our relationship. I miss him very much.

Appreciation
I have found a tiny voice for myself in my blog. I have made a conscious effort to post everyday. Some things have not exactly been provocative or thought stimulating and other posts I hope have piqued your interest. I believe my blog has allowed me to keep my sanity during this time of unemployment. Blogging at first was a distraction. Now I truly do enjoy just putting thoughts or observations out there. One concession I have not made is to tell my friends and family I have a blog.
I told one friend early on and since I very rarely check my reports I don't know if she lurks by or not. It's ok if she does because she knows much of what goes on in my life anyway. There is always a twinge that happens inside me though when I think I might put something out there that I have kept to myself and really want to listen to a truly unbiased opinion. I do believe I made the right decision not to say anything to anyone else though. However there were many times during my trip to Naples that I almost slipped. It's hard to talk about what's happening on the internet without mentioning blogs especially when talking with teenagers.
I must say I didn't know if I could do this daily but somehow someway something pops in my head and I put it into words right here. I am not a writer by any means but I do like putting my thoughts down to clear my head. The best part is you guys have become the unbiased sounding board that everyone needs once in awhile.

Be warned
Bloggers are great at suggesting other sites you should check out because we know if you like our stuff you might like others we suggest. Unfortunately there are some bloggers out there that take your information, if you leave a comment, and then proceed to email you crap when you never agreed to such nonsense.
I like my bloggers but I choose when and where I want to read their posts. One such blogger I highly recommend that you DO NOT leave your email information is Sex & Moxie. The website is otherwise an interesting take on dating and relationships so it makes for a good read even though it is commercial-like. There is so much shit on the site that if it said you would be signing up for email notifications you could never find it. SO I WILL TELL YOU - DO NOT leave a comment or you will have to go through the hassle of getting unsubscribed from their lists. What a pain!
Marketing Rule Broken: If you do something bad, it is 10 times worse than doing something good. Whoever advised this chick to use her commentators email address as a marketing device gave her bad advice. Said another way - don't send me email I didn't ask for or I will go public with your unscrupulous marketing ploys.

yes i am an addict
I was first introduced to the blackberry through work. I had a micromanager boss that thought it was a good idea that I had one for business. She thought nothing of calling and talking ad nauseum about nothing using up my personal cell minutes. So in came the blackberry. Anytime your boss "requires" you to have this device - put it off as long as possible until you see what kind of expectations your boss has concerning your availabilty.
Once blackberry in hand the boss had no qualms about calling or emailing anytime she was bored - drive time on the way to work, drive time on the way home, weekend errand runs etc. Oh she thought she was being courteous asking if she was calling at a bad time (say dinner) and would get offended if you said you had to make the call quick. I didn't think she was considerate. She was manipulative. Thank goodness she never understood the text messaging feature!
The emails at 4 am were the last straw. I started putting my blackberry to sleep from 11pm until 7am. Yes, she would call at 6am if she had a thought in that empty head of hers. (Yes, you may infer I didn't get along with the incompetent!). When I was no longer employed (she fired me because I planned on going to the board about the alledged misuse of company credit card by her favorite psychopath employee)I had to turn in the blackberry.
Well believe it or not I actually used the blackberry for more than text messaging and email. I love having my calendar, tasks and to do lists handy. So when t-mobile finally got the blackberry model I wanted - I sucked it up and purchased one. Never in my dreams did I envision surfing the web on this device, much less posting to my blog.
It's not the most convenient way to get around the internet but it works. I think I am going to have blackberry thumb syndrome one day from the constant use of the scrolling down web pages.
That's me - finding humor in the inaneness of this! Brings a smile to my face! (I do apologize for any grammar or spelling errors - I am winging it here with WORD to correct all my passive voice, split infinitives, run on sentences, and general misuse of the hypen!). Hey, I am not perfect.

still on the blackberry
3 more days of housesitting and hopefully a real internet connection to write my posts.
Thanks all my fans to staying tuned. I can't respond through a comment because the word verification graphics don't show up on the blackberry. So I can't comment on my own blog except through a post.
Who said technology was fun?
Cheers! I am planning on staying in touch as best I can!

internet by Phone
I didn't want my millions of readers to think I had deserted them in their minutes of need to a little laughter for the day. So I will try to send posts via my phone. Can you imagine trying to do this on a regular cell phone? As you may recall I am not the swiftest with acronyms. It would not have been a pretty sight to see me try to type this post on a plain numeric/alpha keypad.
On a serious note - to the survivors of 9/11 - may you find your way and continue the good that has come out of the bad.

You found me
I have always written down my thoughts. Most of what I have written revolves around relationships – the hopes, dreams, anxiety, frustrations – the essence of those thoughts are just for me. Is it weird that some of the blogs I find interesting are the ones where someone is more than willing to expose all facets of their life to complete strangers? I did lurk for a long time because I just didn’t have anything to say. You could deduce I lurk on my own life and only make a comment in my journal when I have something to say.
The first blog I read was Greek Tragedy. I accidentally discovered other blogs when my mouse rolled over the commentators name and became a link in which I could click through to others. While Greek Tragedy had a section for other blogs she reads I didn’t find any of these as compelling. Reason – I get enough intellectual thought on a daily basis from my friends, family and work – I didn’t need another outlet for intellectual thought through the internet. Greek Tragedy can be raunchy, sassy, sad, happy, suggestive, stupid, silly – much like a long-time friend. From GT, I found Manic Mom – a complete opposite from GT and yet Manic Mom writes like an old friend. I actually corresponded with Manic Mom before starting my own blog (that encouraging tone again). From there I just starting clicking through whenever I found a blog name that struck my fancy.
What I like about the blogs that I label “Inspirations” is that they all reflect a little bit of me. GT – thoughts on relationships; Manic Mom – family; Citizen of the Month – humor; Paperback Writer – love of reading and writing; Just My Type – an observer; Dubious Wonder – inner struggles; and TrueBlue 4 Ever – just never know where this one is going. There are more blogs that I read or at least stop by on a regular basis but is it really necessary to link to every single thing I read? The adventure has been finding the other blogs. I’m betting on somebody finding me too and maybe by the end of the year my rank will be 1,088,650. Aim small, miss small theory.

Acronyms
I found this cool website that would take your name and create words related to your personality and then I started thinking about how acronyms have taken over the way we write and speak. (Note to self: always test the code on your site before publishing. Apparently the code doesn't go over well enough for anyone to see except me in edit mode - geez - this is why I don't like "writing" my own code.) So for your enjoyment my name TWO ROADS became:
Tickling, Warm,Oversmart, Responsible, Orderly, Awesome, Delicious, Smooth
I think the employees at IBM(aka I've Been Moved) invented these things. If you have EVER had a conversation with anyone working or did work for IBM, you will know that these people only speak in acronyms. Started with PC (personal computer) which then became PC (politically correct) and it was downhill from there.
Acronyms absolutely drive me crazy. I had to know proper spelling and grammar to graduate from high school and college. I text message in long-hand – I limit my use of acronyms. FWIW (for what it's worth) my first encounter with acronyms was my senior year in high school. Every Friday before school started there was a "senior" breakfast (of course you had to pay for your own meal) at the International House of Pancakes. Obviously because only so much information could fit on our flyers it got shorten to IHOP. Next came ADIDAS (all day I dream about sex). I never could (and to this day can’t) wear my Adidas T-shirt without thinking about sex.
Now take LOL. Some people think it stands for Laugh Out Loud others Lots of Love. How are you supposed to interpret an LOL when you receive a LOL from a supposedly platonic friend in response to a message that is not a joke? IMHO (in my humble opinion) I usually just ask – WTF (what the f*ck)?
But when I am reading other people’s blogs I run into all sorts of acronyms which confound me since I haven’t been a long time reader – MID – men I dated; DTMFA – dump the mother f*cker already; HNT – half-naked Thursdays; ICG – incredibly cute girl; CUNT – see you next Tuesday; WAMH – with all my heart (I had to go to a lingo website to figure this one out and it’s actually a nice one too!)
So the next time you are stuck with an unfamiliar acronym, here’s a useful website: http://lingo2word.com/index.php Unless of course the writer is making up their own acronym then you will just have to ask – WTF?

To Tell or Not Tell
Where I struggle is putting personal conversations out there on the web. Writing something that verbally would be okay but when out in the public domain just doesn’t come across that well is my fear. I have seen it on another blog. There is an issue with a friend, the commentators start making all kinds of assumptions based on the little information the writer can give and still maintain their friend’s privacy and then the friend’s feelings get hurt by the commentators remarks and the friend feels the need to defend themselves to, in their mind, “strangers”. It just gets all convoluted.
The appeal of not telling my friends is that I can put a situation out there, receive advice – better, bad or the same – and then decide what I want to do with the information – continue the conversation with my friend, use the information for myself or do nothing. Am I being honest with my friends? Do they care where I get my information or insight? Am I invalidating the privacy bond between friends?
If I tell my friends about my blog, assuming they actually read it, am I willing to accept the consequences of hurt feelings by putting something out in the public domain? While I would never, ever disclose any identities, I have astute friends and they likely would recognize the situation as theirs.
There have been times when I have told friend B about something going on with friend A, gotten advice and then passed it back to friend A. I didn’t ask permission to discuss the issue with anyone else but I did. The chance of these 2 friends meeting each other are pretty slim and even if they did it’s not like whatever the issue was would come up in conversation. However, on a blog, assuming my friends are going to read it, my friends will get to read what others might have to say, it might not be very nice, and they might not like their life so “exposed.” In a verbal conversation, I have a choice of passing along information and there is no “disclosure” that the situation was possibly discussed with another to obtain more direction. On a blog, the situation is out there for anyone to see and the commentator’s makes a remark without regard to feelings and for everyone to see.
So how do you decide?

Blogger Training
Ok, two posts under my belt. So now what? Well first off when I figure out how to edit the sidebars and header then you guys (and yes I'm from the south but I just love the sound of you guys oh so much better than ya'll) won't need to go through my posts to find out about me. Until then....About me - I feel like I am older (currently 48) than most people that have personal blogs out there (mid 20s-late 30s) that I read. But that's okay - I'm all for learning new skills. Born and raised in Atlanta and ever since I was 18 I have tried to escape to somewhere else. Not escape because of anything bad, I just have this adventure part of me that needs to be satisfied. I have escaped 3 times - once for college, once for a job transfer and once for the adventure. I've got the Scarlett O'hara in me - there's something in the land that keeps bringing me back. More like this last time - elder parents. I'm the caretaker child. I was the middle child for 8 years until the 4th came along. So I can claim middle child syndrome. Plus I needed to come back to see why I keep leaving. After 6 years of being back, I'm only here for my parents. Atlanta is a great place just not for me.
Now here's something you might not hear often (especially from a Southerner) - I loved living in the Northeast. Boston, Philly, NYC, DC, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire all accessible within a reasonable train or car ride. Culture (more than one major museum), food, music, ocean, mountains, history (something other than the Civil War), and real snow (for the most part, we only get ice storms here). However, I still wasn’t home. So when the time comes there is a huge possibility that I will leave again.
As you can see, I have 3 siblings – older brother, younger brother (who has cut off total communication with the family – that’s a discussion for another day) and younger sister. Yes, boy, girl, boy, girl. My parents couldn’t have planned that even if they tried. I’m single but not trying to figure out past bad relationships through a blog. They were bad, they are over, I’ve moved on. Pragmatic? Sensible? Reasonable? You pick. I am looking for that man who I can have a long-term relationship and who wants the same with me. We see beyond the physicality of each other to something much more enduring and satisfying. A good sense of humor, a sense of wanderlust and a nice bank account (just kidding – not really – no really) are nice things to have too!
Nature awes me. (Please don’t take that to mean I’m crunchy or that I actually like sleeping in a tent.) Volcanoes awe me. Architecture awes me. So I will probably post the pics I’ve taken over the years.
I’m not a computer techie (or cell phone – make that Blackberry techie either) but my friends all seem to think I can magically fix things. Sometimes I actually do but only if I have the computer (or BB) in front of me but please don’t ask me what I did – it works so be satisfied. So now I am off to figure out the code of this template so I can get this site to “feel” like me.

New to Me
Welcome! I'm not exactly sure how I am going to use this blog - de-stress, vent, get advice, give advice, post pictures, whatever. Currently I just need a medium to express my thoughts and see what happens. I have been reading other blogs only for a short period of time - actually ever since I was fired (why be kind to myself) for being too ethical for my boss. Thank goodness I have a great bunch of friends that have been mentally supportive in my searching for my next position. I tried to list my occupation as - Trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life - but that was too long. However, I really am trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life. In the meantime, I find manyof my peers quite dissatisfied with where they are in their careers. What's with that? Now my Mom, who is 74 years old, still wants to work and begins a new job next week teaching 4 year olds. How she does it is truly amazing. Why she would want to is beyond my comprehension. The thing is I think she is of the generation that having a job means she is somebody - in other words she doesn't separate the herself from her job. I believe there is more to me than what I do for a living. There is the wanderlust in my heart and mind that constantly keeps me yearning for more life experiences. This blog is just another vehicle for learning not only about myself but about other too. I am apart of all that I have met (I think that's Tennyson). And you?Tags: Observations, Personal Lessons
