Be warned

I realize I might be "putting off" some people out there but I am adamant about not receiving information I never requested in the first place. I don't apologize for this stance. I hope you can respect my position.

Bloggers are great at suggesting other sites you should check out because we know if you like our stuff you might like others we suggest. Unfortunately there are some bloggers out there that take your information, if you leave a comment, and then proceed to email you crap when you never agreed to such nonsense.

I like my bloggers but I choose when and where I want to read their posts. One such blogger I highly recommend that you DO NOT leave your email information is Sex & Moxie. The website is otherwise an interesting take on dating and relationships so it makes for a good read even though it is commercial-like. There is so much shit on the site that if it said you would be signing up for email notifications you could never find it. SO I WILL TELL YOU - DO NOT leave a comment or you will have to go through the hassle of getting unsubscribed from their lists. What a pain!

Marketing Rule Broken: If you do something bad, it is 10 times worse than doing something good. Whoever advised this chick to use her commentators email address as a marketing device gave her bad advice. Said another way - don't send me email I didn't ask for or I will go public with your unscrupulous marketing ploys.

I am so with you on this one. Why do people think I will do business with them if the annoy me?

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

With so many businesses using blogs to connect to people, I think this type of marketing will just get worse.

Just my opinion but clear information regarding the use of emails should be easy to find along with an opt-out option from the get go not after the fact.

Did you hear that now there are going to be popup ads on your cell phone when you surf the net? WTF!

Thanks Mamak. These days I'm all for taking back my rights!

Oh, my. I've never run into something like this. I hope I never do!

PW - you've been lucky. I would say it is limited to the bloggers that have gone totally commercial with their sites that this phenomenon would most likely occur. Us everyday bloggers that don't care to make money are more reputable!

TR: Oh, that's good. A lot of the blogs I visit are more of those "home grown" variety.
