New to Me

Welcome! I'm not exactly sure how I am going to use this blog - de-stress, vent, get advice, give advice, post pictures, whatever. Currently I just need a medium to express my thoughts and see what happens. I have been reading other blogs only for a short period of time - actually ever since I was fired (why be kind to myself) for being too ethical for my boss. Thank goodness I have a great bunch of friends that have been mentally supportive in my searching for my next position. I tried to list my occupation as - Trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life - but that was too long. However, I really am trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life. In the meantime, I find manyof my peers quite dissatisfied with where they are in their careers. What's with that? Now my Mom, who is 74 years old, still wants to work and begins a new job next week teaching 4 year olds. How she does it is truly amazing. Why she would want to is beyond my comprehension. The thing is I think she is of the generation that having a job means she is somebody - in other words she doesn't separate the herself from her job. I believe there is more to me than what I do for a living. There is the wanderlust in my heart and mind that constantly keeps me yearning for more life experiences. This blog is just another vehicle for learning not only about myself but about other too. I am apart of all that I have met (I think that's Tennyson). And you?

Word.

My mom is a doctor and when she retires, I know she's not going to know what to do with herself. On the flipside, my father-in-law is retired and loves it. He keeps very busy.

As for myself, no, I don't define myself by what I do, even though what I do is socially rewarding - in a secretive sort of way - I don't want to limit myself to just that, which is way my "about me" section is twice as long as it should be.

By the way, I'm not sure if my last comment went through or not.

Stupid blogger.
